while some may say “deep ellum just isn’t the same”, i partially agree with you but will say that there are still some very solid restaurant and venues in the area worth going to such as angry dog, cane rosso, club dada, all good cafe, and LaGrange.

the first thing i noticed when i went to LaGrange was the awesome decor, especially the glowing deer trophies behind the bar. their concept is “easy, real Texas music, a swanky yet relaxed atmosphere, and killer service.”

i will actually be going to LaGrange twice in the next few days for two shows i am really excited about – first up is david ramirez tomorrow night (i posted his video for “stick around” not too long ago). i’m pumped about this show. i discovered david a couple months ago and just fell in love with his sound. reminds me a lot of ryan adams. here’s an amazing performance of his song, fires:

then monday night, i’ll be there again to see catamaran, a relatively new Dallas-based indie rock band, playing their first deep ellum show. it should be a really fun night so forget the monday blues and pay just $5 for guaranteed fun and guaranteed good jams.

both nights i’m at LaGrange i might just have to grab some homemade tacos and some of their Signature Texas Cocktails…

so come out and see why deep ellum isn’t the same – it’s better thanks to places like LaGrange.
