aren’t monday mornings after weekend getaways the worst? i was struggling this morning after two wonderful, blissful days in fredericksburg, tx. a mini vaca was JUST what i needed and i had the best time with my mom and sister. here’s a brief recap of what we did…

first stop was Acorn Cottage where we stayed for two nights but cottage doesn’t quite describe it because it was a very spacious, three bedroom house! with big, comfy beds and horses grazing nearby, it was the perfect place to retreat from all the shopping and eating we did. they even left us a quiche and fresh strawberries to enjoy while we were there.

friday night we ate at a cozy restaurant called The Nest and i enjoyed their sauteed shrimp with citrus garlic sauce and turnip mashed potatoes. my mom eats here every time she comes to fredericksburg and i agree that it is always worth a trip!

saturday morning we made our way to main street for all the best shopping. clothes, jewelry, antiques, home decor, baked goods, canned goods and so much more! you can’t go wrong on main street. we stopped for lunch at The Peach Tree and i had a turkey burger and their house sangria. it wasn’t my favorite meal of the trip but it was still satisfying and the sangria was delicious.

after more shopping, my sister and i made our way to the Grape Creek Vineyards tasting room where we enjoyed six different wines made right there in fredericksburg, which has an abundance of vineyards. she chose the Bellissimo and i got the Riesling but it was definitely hard to choose. next time i make a trip to fredericksburg, i am going to try to do a cellar tour and private tasting.

that night we went to the Navajo Grill for dinner and i had the skillet duck breast with sour cherry demi glace, pecan wild rice and sauteed kale. i really enjoyed the food but it seemed like the atmosphere on their patio was more inviting and we settled for inside because of the wait.

sunday morning we got coffee at Fredericksburg Gourmet Coffee & Tea and hit up a few more stores before getting on the road. but of course we made time to get some peaches! i got a whole box full to share with a certain peach connoisseur i know. i already ate one today and it was de-licious. can’t beat a good texas peach.

i hope this serves as a useful guide for anyone looking to make a trip to fredericksburg! feel free to leave me a comment with any other questions you might have.
